Strabismus as a Presenting Sign in Retinoblastoma

Purpose To report the presenting signs of retinoblastoma in a large cohort patients who underwent orthoptic assessment at presentation. Methods A retrospective medical chart review was conducted on 131 with presented consecutively to single institution during 6-year period. The main outcome measure sign(s) disease. Results Of retinoblastoma, 88 unilateral disease and 43 bilateral (mean ages: 22.7 14.8 months, respectively). Leukocoria sign 56% patients, leukocoria strabismus 18%, 13%, inflammation 8%, other 5%. fovea affected by tumor or its sequelae 75% patients. Patients were significantly more likely have foveal involvement than alone (P = .001). Thirty-one percent had as component their presentation; 63% exotropia, 23% esotropia, 14% variable strabismus. percentage increased 66% when small angle also considered. worse ocular survival Conclusions This study assessed combination features retinoblastoma. Foveal is common may influence decision-making regarding globe salvage. authors confirmed that exotropia esotropia largest undergone an assessment.
